Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Divorce

Are there any states in the continuous United States where a divorce can be obtained that would be legal in Maryland, other than in Maryland? There are no minor children involved. Can a resident of Maryland obtain a divorce in another state without a residency requirement, if so what states??

Re: Divorce

Generally, the several states will honor a divorce from a foreign jurisdiction (another state). In Maryland, you must meet the residency requirement before you bring an action for divorce. Many other states have residency requirements as well. What type of residency requirement you will have to meet will depend upon the particular state in which you are seeking a divorce.
