Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Divorce Statutes

I got divorced in 2000 in Alabama. My ex moved to No. VA and the children and I to MD, where we have lived since. I want to ask for some changes to the child support in my divorce decree. Can I do this in MD since we have lived here for 6 years or do I need to go back to AL since that is where the original divorce decree was drawn up?

Re: Divorce Statutes

You can enroll the Alabama order in Maryland and then file for a modification. No need to go back to Alabama.

Divorce Statutes

Since you and the child have lived in Maryland for more than 6 months, you can ask the Court here for a change in child support.
