Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Is my divorce valid?

My ex-husband lied on the separation and divorce papers about the voluntary separation and living apart without cohabitation date. He stated in court and on the paperwork that it was two weeks after the marriage date. In fact it was not until five months later. I did not say anything and signed the papers. Should I have the dates corrected to reflect the facts with the court? The divorce was granted on this false information that the one year separation had taken place. Is my divorce valid? The divorce occurred two years ago.

Re: Is my divorce valid?

If the grounds for the divorce have been satisfied through misrepresentation then the validity of the divorce is questionable. If, however, you intend to use this to seek remedy and were involved with misrepresentation then there are other legal doctrines that will preclude you from benefiting from your wrong. Contact an attorney for further information.
