Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I was divorced in 2009 and was ordered to pay a judgement of $35, 000. I have paid all but $2000 and now the ex-wife attorney is asking for interest payments. There was no requirement in the divorce decree to pay in a period of time or any statement concerning interest for unpaid balance. I have been making montly payments every month for 3 years, along with alimony and now the lawyer is asking for 10% annum. Is the attorney within her rights to collect interest?

Thanks

All judgments in MD courts bear simple interest at 10%, by law. It is not necessary for the judge who entered the judgment against you to spell that out. Once a judgment is entered in the record, it is due and payable in full, unless the parties stipulate to a payment schedule. The interest would be calculated on the unpaid balance on a yearly basis.
