Domestic Abuse
My son's wife threatens that due to unreported spousal abuse she is going to ask for sole custody of my grandchild who is 9 months old. My son is in the Navy and is in California. The baby was born in California and is now living in MD and they were married in VA.

Your son has the right to contest this if he wishes. However, given the age of the child, the most likely outcome is sole physical custody with the mother with visitation rights to your son. However, he should be entitled to joint legal custody if he wants it.
