Since you aren't married to the mother, you haven't yet legally been declared the father. That can only happen if a paternity action is filed in court, although she could put your name on the birth certificate if she wants to. Therefore, at present she controls the information that will go on the birth certificate. If this is important enough to you, you could initiate a paternity action and thereby gain some control over the child, such as visitation rights, but you will also be ordered to pay support, which is your legal obligation in any event.
