My mother past away and was receiving a settlement fund from my her father for an abestos case. I have 7 brothers and sister and the basically I took care of my mother. I received 3 checks from the lawyer handling her case. The other sibling refuse to sign the paper so we can splin the money which is very much. Since they don't want the money what can I do, send it back to the lawyer and let the state have or what?

You need to open an estate for your mother and have yourself appointed as personal representative. Unless your mother had a will appointing someone else in this capacity, you are eligible to get this appointment, although so are your siblings. Once you are appointed, you can place the settlement funds in an estate account under your signature and then disburse their share of the funds to your siblings. You can't force them to cash the checks, but they can't hold up your ability to receive the funds either.
