Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
This is a family law question regarding relocation from Maryland to York, PA. I currently have primary physical custody of my 13 year old son and I was thinking about moving to York, PA which is about 35 minutes away from Cockeysville Maryland. The reason for this move is for financial reasons and I attempted to communicate this to his father 4 months ago but in writing he said he does not approve of me crossing over state lines. I informed him that it would not change our current schedule and I would drive to Cockeysville for him to pick up and drop off his son. There is even a possibility that my son would remain in the same school system, so ultimately nothing much would change besides my address. What should I do? Do I need to file some type of paper work? Write someone? I just dont know what steps to take next. Any advise would be appreciated.

Look at your custody order. What does it say? They typically address issues such as this. You should hire a family law attorney (preferably the same one you used in your divorce, since you won't have to pay as much to get him/her up to speed) to discuss your options. You may have the right to up and move without permission of the father. You might not. You may have to go into Court and seek leave (permission) to do so. It all depends on the terms of your custody order.
