Hi, I'm from the Dominican Republic and there even though you arent married after a couple of years living together and more if you have kids, it's just as if you were married. When you seperate its half and half. The law backs up the women. How is it here in the US?

You are referring to common law marriage. Some U.S. states recognize it, but Maryland does not.
