Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

How to file for a divorce on my own?

I have been sepaerated for about six years and am inquiring about filing for a divorce on my own. How can I go about doing so? There are no kids and I don't want the house. There is no room for a reconciliation. I have not seen her since 2000. If I were to order the forms from this website what are the steps necessary? We were married in Va. but we reside in differant parts of Md.. Is it inexpensive? If she wants to reconcile would that hold things up? The grounds are adultery. She is also Active Duty. Does any of this matter?

Go to the Circuit Court and obtain the appropriate forms. There are several issues you present and you should speak with an attorney. Fault based grounds such as adultery require specific evidence to be proven. Since you have been separated for more than two years you can file on the basis of two year separation. You should contact an attorney to discuss your legal objectives.
