Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I have full physical custody of my daughter, but joint legal custody. If I wanted to move out of state, can her father tell me I can't move? I live in MD, he also lives in MD but near the PA line and is planning to move into Southern PA soon. I would like to relocate to a neighboring state. He says that I would make it impossible for him to see his daughter, which I never would keep her from him, but it would be a further distance. Do I have to ask the court for permission to move or can I just move whether he likes it or not? We don't have a visitation schedule, he just comes to see her whenever and he takes her one Saturday a month for the day to visit family in PA.

If your custody order does not contain a provision that you must give notice to the father of an intent to relocate, you may do so without court permission. However, the father could file a petition to prevent the move and the court would hold a hearing on it.
