Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Grandparents Rights of under age Parents
What are the grandparents rights of a baby borned out of wedlock to my son age 16 and a girl who is 15? The two teenagers agreed on sharing custody 50%. But my son only gets the child three days a month. I would like to know if my wife and I have any legal rights to this grandchild, meaning getting the child 50% of the time.
We support this grandchild financially more than 50% as neither of the teens can financially support the child. Can my son who lives with us legally keep his daughter at his parents house.
Thank You
Sincerely

Re: Grandparents Rights of under age Parents
Under Maryland law, grandparents can seek court-ordered visitation rights. In addition, your son can file an action for custody if you feel that the child would be better served staying with you and him than under his/her present situation. This could be sole custody or joint physical custody.
