Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Grandparents Rights

I have custody of my grandson. The other grandmother filed a petition for visitation because I would only allow vistation in my home. I felt she was not making decisions for him in his best interest. I signed an agreement stating the conditions in which I would allow her visits away from home. She has since called CPS twice making false statements. Is there anything I can do about this? I would not agree to a 3 week visit in the summer she requested but I think she is going raise the issue again. He has never been away from home for that period of time since he has lived with me. Will a judge require this visit. He resided with his parents for 2 years prior to living with me. I sought custody because of the conditions of her house and the drugs and underage drinking taking place while she was there. I do not think she would intentionally harm him but she doesn't make sound decisions for him. My daughter told me that there was a Meth Lab in the grandmothers bedroom while they lived there. I have no proof. I have had numberous people tell me that she has drug problems but I have no proof. I don't feel they would be reliable witnesses as they have drug issues themselves. Any suggestions?

As to the calls to CPS, about all you can do there is respond to requests from them for information. You can request a visit from the social services division of the court to the other grandmother's home to see what the conditions are. Chances are the court will allow in home visitation if there are no evident problems, but perhaps not for the period of time she is requesting.
