grandparents visitation rights

do we have any right to at least see our grandchild once a month?

It depends on the circumstances. Grandparent visitation rights were effectively restricted by a recent Maryland Court of Appeals ruling. The court held that a grandparent seeking visitation must first establish that the biological parents are either unfit or that exceptional circumstances exist. If either can be established, then the court would determine whether visitation would be in the best interests of the child. You would proceed by filing a complaint for visitation in the circuit oourt and including any factual basis that exists to support parental unfitness or exceptional circumstances.
