Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

my daughter had our grandson at age14 we stood behind her and supported the child ,when she moved out we still had him and continued to support him at age 6 we ask my daughter and the father if we could have custody of him they both signed the papers with no problem,he is 15 now we never asked for child support either,he has my daughters last name and now he wants us to adopt him ,should i go back to the same lawyer and i wondering what will this consist of will the child have any say in it.

You should consult with an attorney who specializes in adoption. They will be best able to advise you as to whether it makes sense to do this. The parents will have the right to be involved in an adoption proceeding if they wish to do so, and if they do not object, you shouldn't have any problems.
