Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Guardianship of children with existing parent involved

I have full custody of three children from a previous marriage, and recently remarried a year and a half ago. Certain institituions such as schools do not recognize my wife as a guardian when discussing personal issues involving the children (meaning they will only discuss sensative issues with myself). Does my wife need to obtain a guardianship status or something of that effect to have equal status with myself in such matters, and if so how, especially since my children's mother is still alive, even without custody rights.

Unless the schools will accept a consent from your ex in order to communicate on these issues with your wife, you would have to seek a guardianship.
