Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Guardianship

Hello. We live in Montgomery County, Maryland. Our biological son was left a life insurance policy, from his grandmother, who resided in New Jersey. The life insurance company, Prudential, has told us that we need guardianship papers to get a copy of the life insurance policy, which for whatever reason is now converted to an annunity. What must we do to get guardianship papers? Thank you

You file a petition for guardianship of the property of your child in the circuit court of your county.

Re: Guardianship

You do not mention when the policy was procured or when the benefactor died. If you have received a rejection letter you should consider hiring an attorney. It appears that a trust may have been opened. Contact me to discuss.
