Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

housing property

I have a question about my property I own with my soon to be ex husband. We own our townhouse we bought 2 years ago. (no children) The market is so bad now that in order to sell, we would have to pay aprox $20K out of pocket. Thats not an option for us. I currently live in the home but am finding it difficult to cover all of the bills on my own and would like to move. If we file for divorce, what happens if we can't sell the house and niether of us want to keep it? Should we not file so we aren't forced to sell by the judge?

Re: housing property

Somebody will have to carry the house until it is sold. The Court will appoint a trustee to sell the house if you go through the Courts.

You will ultimately get credit for your carrying costs against your husband's interests at the time the house.
