Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My husband and I run our business (custom cabinets) my husband's brother-in- law who is also his cousin, has the lease in his name because my husband did not have any credit or legal status in this country when we had gotten married 4-1/2 years ago I filed for him, my question to you is I don't get a pay check from my husband but I run everything in the office, we are having a difficult time right now and he is always saying to me that this business is his brother in laws and that he doesn't own anything, we have filed our taxes jointly personal and business taxes together for the past years because of the fact that I had filed for him to become legal in the US, I am a citizen, can I get my share from the business if the worst were to happen to us?

It depends on the type of business. For instance, if the business is a corporation, do you own any stock? If the business if an LLC, do you own an member interests pursuant to a written operating agreement? If the answers these questions are "no", you likely do not own an interest in the company.

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.********
