Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
My husband and I have been separated for fifteen years. He lives in Canada. How can i divorce without investing too much money which i lack, or is there any due process that would already qualify me as being divorced due to the time that has lapsed.

You can file a divorce complaint in your county circuit court. In view of the length of your separation, I assume there are no financial issues between you. If he will cooperate, just file the complaint, basing your divorce on being separated for 2 years without cohabitation. Once the clerk issues a summons, you can send it to him and ask him to write the court and notify it that he doesn't contest the divorce. Then you will be given a brief hearing where you and a corroborating witness will testify as to the length of separation. As for cost, there is @$100 in filing fees. Check with the court to see if they have a pro se project (self-representation) which would provide you with forms you can fill out to get the case going and instructions for how to complete it.
