Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My husband and I have been seperated for over 2 yrs he volunteered child support for our 2 children the first year, I have received nothing since 2008. If I force child support through the courts do I claim this money? I have papers to file for divorce but not sure how to do this part. Can things be put on paper and notarized? instead of through the court system.

To get a valid divorce you must file a court petition in your county circuit court. As part of that you should ask for custody of your children and an order requiring your husband to pay child support. If he is employed the child support can be set up to be deducted from his paycheck and sent to you. You would be well advised to find an experienced family attorney to represent you. If you income qualify you may be able to get a reduced fee attorney through your county bar association.
