Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My husband and I wrote a contract stating that if one of us seperates or divorce the other party, then theother party recieves primary custody of the children. But on my part I wrote several exemptions therefore I would be able to seperates and have my children. We did all this in front of two witnesses and we all signed this contract. Is this legal in any way? And if I have to obtain a police protection would this contract be valid?would I be ably to take my children with me?

Agreements for custody just like custody orders are not permanent and are subject to modification. The court looks to the best interest of the child. If you have a legitimate claim for domestic violence, by all means seek protection for yourself and children. Otherwise, take the agreement to an attorney to obtain detailed advice.

Thereafter, file for divorce, seek custody of the children, and file for child support.
