individual lien

I am having difficulty getting my exhusband to pay his alimony. Can I put lien on his property? If so how do get started?

Re: individual lien

Since your alimony is presumably by court order, probably included in your divorce judgment or as part of a settlement agreement that was incorporated into that order, you can file a show cause order with the court, asking that your ex be held in contempt. You would also ask for a judgment for the back alimony he owes, and if he is employed (not self-employed, for an earnings withholding order. Once entered, this order would require his employer to automatically deduct the alimony from his paycheck and send it to you.

You can also ask that your ex be required to pay your legal expenses in having to pursue this. You should seek the assistance of an experienced family attorney to file the necessary papers and get you what your entitled to.
