Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Hello, my name is Jasmine, I just recently had my child. Now I had to go to the hospital unexpected due to health problems, where I needed a c-section. The baby father wasn't there, because I had no contact and the doctors put me on medicines where I was falling asleep. He has threaten me to take my child away even when I was pregnant, but never told his family about having a child and he is only concern was signing the birth certificate and not seeing his own child. What should I do? I tried to see if cricket can give me my old messages of conversations we had but sadly they can't. The father had told me to abort. The baby and I refused when I was couple of weeks pregnant, threaten me taking her away, then top of that he say all these things which, he doesn't care about his own child, I feel like it's more of control and trying to make me miserable.

Rest assured no judge is going to give the father custody of your newborn unless he can show you are a totally unfit mother. He certainly may be entitled to visit with the child and, as he gets older, to have the child with him for visitation if he is fit. On the other hand, you have a right to financial support from the father, and should consider bringing a paternity and support action against him. Consult with an experienced family attorney about this.
