Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Is joint co-guardianship possible?

My mother has guardianship for her mentally disabled child who is in her 40's. My mother wishes to name a co-guardian. Because there are many siblings and we wish to share the co-guardianship, my question is, can you have joint co-guardianship?

Yes. Your mother would have to file a petition in the court which appointed her as the guardian to add someone as a co-guardian. There are a number of procedures that have to be followed, so she'd be wise to retain an attorney to do this.
