Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My kids last name is hypenated with my last name and their fathers last name, he is not in their life and I want to take his name off their last name. Therefore only leaving my last name. What pricess do I have to go through to change it. Thank you.

You have to file a court petition for name change in your local circuit court. There are forms for this available at http://www.courts.state.md.us/family/forms/domrellist.html. If you need help sometimes the clerks at the courthouse where you would file the forms will help you out.
