Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Can my Lawyer drop me

My attourney asked and received a $7500 retainer and proceded to represent me ,however they burned through the money and demanded that I replentish the retainer fund that I signed .My finaincial position right now is very precarious and I do not have another 7500 right now .Are they allowed to drop me ,which they have threatened to do saying thier ins. co. does not allow them to loan money and if they aren't are they allowed to slack on my case /not perform to there best ability ?

The lawyer-client relationship is always subject to termination by either party. However, the lawyer is ethically bound to continue to diligently represent you until the relationship is dissolved. If this is a court case, he/she has to file a motion with the court and get the court's permission to withdraw.

If you feel the lawyer wasn't adequately representing you, you can file a grievance with the Attorney Grievance Commission and they will investigate your claim.
