Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Left state - visitation issues

I moved from MD to MS last Aug. due to a hostile work environment and other issues which have resulted in major depression (medically documented). My ex, who had every-other-wknd visitation, was informed and consented prior to the move and has flown my 2 children back to MD twice at his expense - he makes approx. $80,000/yr. I have no income at present. He is now threatening to revisit the cs and demanding pymt for the travel expenses, which I do not have to give. We have nothing in writing regarding this issue. I need to know which state has jurisdiction over the cs agreement and in which state I need to seek legal help. There are several other outstanding issues, too numerous to detail here, which also need to be addressed.

Re: Left state - visitation issues

If the child support was ordered by a court in Maryland, Maryland still has jurisdiction. You do not need to repay the travel expenses for his visitation, but you should know that since you moved out of the state he might be able to go back to court for a reconsideration of the custody issue. That doesn't mean that he would get a change in custody, but he could require you to return for a court hearing to re-visit the issue of where it is in the best interest of the children to live. I hope you are getting good treatment for depression. If you are unable to work you should find a good lawyer where you are located who is experienced in handling Social Security disability cases and file a claim for disability benefits.
