Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Legal Age

I'm 17 and my mom kicked me out of the house and told me if I came back she would call the police for treaspassing. I will be 18 in 13 days but until then some of my older friends won't let me stay with them because my mom could press charges for aiding to the delinquency of a minor - in Maryland when I turn 18 is there anything she can do since I'm not wanted at home?

Re: Legal Age

When you turn 18 you are legally an adult and entitled to live wherever you want (with the permission of the homeowner). Your friends shouldn't fear "delinquency" charges from your mother in their reluctance to shelter you in the interim.

Re: Legal Age

If anyone seems to be "aiding to the delinquency of a minor" it's your mother. She has a duty to care for you until you reach age 18. I can't imagine any court entertaining a claim by your mother against someone else nice enough to help you for the next 13 days. She created the problem in the first when she breached her duty to care for you by kicking you out of the house.
