Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Legal Name Change

I have considered a legal name change in Maryland for the past three years. My question is very basic. I am aware of all the legal forms (I even have all forms that need to be filed). It doesn't seem to complicated to do the whole process myself, but should I consult a lawyer to represent me through the process. I'm concerned I'll need to be deeply involved and may not have the legal knowledge that's needed. What are the most complicated portions to an Adult Name Change?

Re: Legal Name Change

Legal name changes are not the hard to obtain, the most difficult part is the posting of the notice in the local papers. If there is a contest to your changing your name, then it would also be more difficult.

In most instances I would recommend speaking to an attorney prior to filing anything.
