Who has legal custody

My girlfriend is 16 yrs old and 6 months pregnant, I am 18 yrs old, her parents want to give the child up for adoption and I am not sure if I agree...Who has the finally say and do I have any rights. If my girlfriend want to give it up for adoption and I want to keep the child, Under the law who has the final decision. Can I fight for custody?

You can seek custody but you will have to first acknowledge paternity of the child in a court proceeding, after the child is born. To convince a court to award you custody, especially at your age, you better have a source of income to support the child and a well-conceived plan for how you will take care of him/her. The court's only concern is what is in the child's best interest.
