If you own the policy, contact the insurance company and tell them you want to cancel it. If the beneficiary owns it and you are just the person who is insured, it's not your call.

If you pay for the policy then you can change the beneficiary. If you are a listed beneficiary then you may be able to change the designation through process. Again, contact an attorney as there are many matters that you may or may not be aware of.
