Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I live part time in Canada and in the USA. my wife is Canadian and lives in Canada. We were married in Maryland. If I file for the divorce in Maryland will the decision be valid in Canada?

If you are a bona fide MD resident for at least a year, you have jurisdiction to bring the case here. You must properly serve her with the divorce papers per the MD rules so she has an opportunity to defend herself if she chooses to do so. If you do this properly and obtain the divorce, it should be recognized in Canada.
