Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Maritial Debt

My estranged is now living in Arizona. He did not respond within 30 days for the petition of divorce. How/when do I file for reimbursement of joint debt, since we have been separated the majority of the debt was left to me (wife) and I have paid including airfare for our children to be returned me after he tried to hide them from me. He is also in contempt and on probation in Maryland for domestic violence but has moved to Arizona without his probation officer's permission.

Re: Maritial Debt

In your divorce complaint, you should have asked for the sort of financial relief you're inquiring about. If your husband was properly served with the court papers, you can ask the court here to enter a judgment in your favor for any amount you can prove you are entitled to by way of a reimbursement for joint expenses. However, even if this happens, collecting it from him will be very difficult since he's now out of state.
