Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Marriage License

I have been married for 16 years and recently separated from my husband. He went to get a copy of our marriage certificate and found that they did not have a certificate on file that we were married. We had a wedding ceremony and I had a copy of the certificate that was signed, but it was distroyed in a fire. I wanted to know if I was legally married or not. Is there a time limitation of how good the marriage certificate is valid. We do not have common marriage law in this state. What do I need to do about this situation.

Re: Marriage License

Are you certain the certificate was actually filed with the court? I have never run into this before, but I'll be more than happy to speak with you.
