Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Married to same 3 times, are we divorced?

If someone marries in the state of Maryland with a marriage license, then

marries the same person with a new marriage license in the state of MI, then

divorces in the state of MI, then marries the same person again in the state of

Ohio with a marriage license then divorces the Ohio marriage, are they still

married becasue they never divorced the Maryland license? If so, if one of the

spouses marries someone else in the state of Nevada, what happens?

One divorce is all you need. You don't divorce a license, you divorce a person.

Re: Married to same 3 times, are we divorced?

It appears that the person desires to marry over several times. As to the enforceability of each divorce, the answer is that it depends.

Where the marriage in Maryland was complete and another marriage made then there may be matters that complicate this. The general rule is that once a person is divorced then it is a matter of procedure to perfect this as to other issues in other juridictions.

The civil remedies, however, may vary from state to state. Contact an attorney for further assistance.
