Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I've been married for 2 years 7 months (11/2007) and I've had the green card for 1 1/2 years.

Husband was deceitful, lied about personal finances before entering marriage (had to file bankruptcy and had been sued 3 times for financial reasons after marriage)

We are talking about separate or possibly divorce, how is this going to affect my immigration status? I only have a conditional green card. How will my status be affected when we separate? if we divorce, will I lose my legal status in the country?

We entered in the marriage fin good faith but it has gotten to the point where living together is just impossible. He left me last year for a month. When I got home one day he had just left. We've tried to work things out, I've put all my effort into trying to make it work, but he doesnt want to get counseling or do anything to make this marriage work.

I dont have a steady job. I only babysit two kids from time to time. Would he still have to support me financially when we separate? how about if we get a divorce?

He still had a lot of financial problems and might still get sued... if we separate, will his financial problems affect me? How about if we do get a divorce?

I would appreciate all the help you can give me.

Best Regards

You should consult with an immigration attorney, but generally if your legal status is entirely dependent on the marriage and it is dissolved, you'd have to apply for another status to stay here. As for your right to support, that depends on your ability to support yourself and whether there is sufficient income disparity between the two of you to justify such support.
