Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
I am a former MD resident who is the non-custodial parent of two children. My child support order was established as an intrestate order between VA & MD, but I have since moved to LA. I've informed the MD office via certified mail & phone that I moved, I'm unemployed, and one child has come back to live with me. Although I'm unemployed I still send partial payments. It has been several months & the only response I've received from MD is that they are going to suspend my license & that my payments are delinquent. Additionally, the other parent is not willing to notify the court that the child lives with me now, so I'm being held responsible for support payments. Please advise, I don't know what to do.

You need to file a motion to modify child support based on the changed circumstances of your employment situation as well as the change in residence of the child. Until you have the existing order modified, the arrears will continue to accrue and the the child support enforcement office will continue to pursue collection. Sending the MD office certified mail has no effect.
