Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Medical Benefits
My husband has been covering our health insurance coverage through his work since he has been employed with them. Back in February we decided to separate our bank accounts and split the household bills fifty-fifty. Last week, he stated that he wanted me to split the premium cost with him since we split all the other household bills, which I said I didn't have a problem doing, fair is fair. But at the present time he is not paying his share of the premium payment because he is out on Workers Comp., so his company is forking the entire premiums payments at this time. He made a contract that he wants me to sign stating that I will be 50% responible for his share of the premium payments since November 04 and if I don't sign, he will drop coverage on me and my daughter, immediately. Can he just drop the coverage on me and my daughter at any time? Can he drop the coverage as long as we are still married? This concerns me that I might or my daughter might go to the doctor's only to find out that we have no coverage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Medical Benefits
It's totally unreasonable for your husband to expect you to reimburse him for some expense he's not currently incurring. Why don't you propose that you'll pick up half the payments once he's back on the payroll and paying the premiums. You didn't make it clear as to whether the child is his daughter as well, but if so, he can be held legally responsible for any medical expenses she incurs.
