It depends on whether your ex has sole authority to make these decisions for the children. If she has sole legal custody, then if braces are recommended by their dentist, you will be responsible for your share of the expense. If you have joint legal custody, you are entitled to at least be consulted regarding this decision. If you and she made an agreement setting up a procedure to resolve issues on which the two of you are unable to agree, then you would follow that procedure.
