Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I met Stephen on an online dating site. He was separated from his wife, but he is not legally separated. He lives in Virginia and the Wife or soon to be Ex someday went to Gerogia to live with there oldest daughter and took the youngest (15 yr old) with her. Back in March before I even met Stephen they went to mediation for a divorce to write up papers, but could not agree on everything. I met him in June and now I am being told that I could be sued for Alienation of Affection. Is this correct? What can I do about it?

Thanks Brenda

That is not correct, unless you, Stephen and his wife move to another state. Maryland long ago abolished alienation of affection as a cause of action. At last count, only seven states still recognized the claim, including Mississippi, North Carolina, Utah, Illinois, South Dakota, Hawaii and New Mexico.
