Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
My mother-in-law called CPS on my husband & I since we got drunk one night and got in a fight. Now she has made up stories to these people and made us look like uncapable parents. Not true I am very active with my children and have volenteered with the girl scout troop and chaperone field trips. I really don't drink until they are asleep. Anyhow, now she has taken my children and refuses to even allow us to talk to them on the phone. On our "safety plan" it states that we are allowed to see them as long as it is supervised. How can she do this? What can I do to counteract what she's doing to my family? According to the CPS lady the soonest we'll have any progress is in 3 weeks when we go to court. I can't wait that long to hug my babies!!!
PLEASE HELP!
1 Answer from Attorneys
The best advice I can give you is to hire an attorney immediately. If you can afford to drink, you can afford an attorney. Which is more important to you? There are lots of lawyers out there who need clients and may be willing to put you on a payment plan -- it will just take some looking around on your part.
Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
