The plaintiff is seeking a default against the defendant because no answer to the complaint was filed within the time period allowed (30-60 days depending on the residency of the defendant). However, a default can't be entered against an active duty military person, so the plaintiff in support of the request must provide an affidavit demonstrating that the defendant isn't military.
