Ne Exit Order?

I was told that I could file a Ne Exit Order to prevent the mother of my child from leaving the country with the child. The mother is not a U.S. resident and the child was born here in the U.S. Can you clarify this.

A Writ of Ne Exeat is a court order that orders a person to remain in the jurisdiction pending the outcome of a case. It is similar to an injuction in that it prohibits a behavior, in this case traveling or taking the child outside of the jurisdiction of the court.
