Re: how do i go about obtaining child support from my father?

Your father has no legal obligation to support you past your eighteenth birthday, but if there was a child support order issued while you were a minor the money he should have paid, but didn't, can still be due to you or to your mother. If your mother never filed a claim for child support while you were a minor, I can see no way you can compel your father to pay. A parent can not be required to make retroactive child support payments for periods prior to the date when a claim for support was filed. If there was an order, and you know how to locate your father, you should contact the child support enforcement office in your county and they will help you.

Once 18 no longer a child. If an order of child support issued then it is effective for 12 years. I hope this answers your question.
