Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

order jurisdiction

A Hawaii court order awarded me physical custody of my kids a few years back and ordered them to move here to Maryland. The order states that Hawaii has jurisdiction of the kids. We live in Maryland and my ex wife is about to move away from Hawaii. Once she is moved how do I get the Maryland court to have jurisdiction and enforce the order/child support since neither one of us will be living in Hawaii anymore. Can I just file the order here in Maryland or will this require a hearing?

You can file a Request to Register the out-of-state order with the Circuit Court of Maryland for your county. The clerk's office has the appropriate forms and instructions. A hearing is generally not required.
