Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I have a order of support through my protective order against my soon-to-be ex-husband. he repeatedly pays late and uses support payments to pay his car insurance. What can I do to get him to pay on time. I have already asked him repeatedly and he just pays whenever he feels like it.

If you have a valid child support order that your husband is not complying with, you have the ability to take him to court to enforce the order. Among the enforcement mechanisms available are holding him in contempt of court for not complying with the order. You may also be able to have the child support payments automatically debited from his checking account or his paycheck to ensure you get paid without having to chase after him. Most courts have resources available to assist people with enforcing child support obligations. You may also want to consider contacting a lawyer. The local bar association may be able to refer you to one if you don't know whom to contact. Good luck.
