Re: ex parte

It means without (ex) a party (parte). A person is able to go to the district court and swear that someone is assaulting or injuring the person. The court then take the persons statement under oath and decides if the evidence is sufficient to give the ex parte protective order. Within 7 days a hearing with both parties must be held to determine if the order will be extended or not. Once the judge signs the original order, it must be served on the person that it alleges abused the person seeking the order.

If one of these orders is filed against you, I would recommmed seeking advice of an attorney.
