Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Is Past Child Support Due When A Court Order is Dropped?
When my child was 2 ,I had court ordered child support $50 per week. Her dad & His mother pressured me to revoke the order(in writing to the court that he & I agreed on his paying me directly)He never paid me a dime for over 8 years until I lost my job Nov 2005. He has now sent monies and his mom paid 1 month of my bills-but is declining further assistance thought she has plenty $-she is tight-He lives with her in Florida-we live in Md-They both told me over ^ over how they would both help me and she encouraged me to have him move there 3 years ago as she was tired of paying his bills here-he works there-and would then be able to send us $-And that only started -like I said ,in Nov 2005-Can I enforce the past amount of $ he verbally promised and did not pay ? Do I have any recourse? I desperately need the money now-?

Re: Is Past Child Support Due When A Court Order is Dropped?
Since you discontinued child support, it would depend whether he had signed an agreement to pay you the $50/wk directly or not. If so, we can pursue breach of contract action and possibly MD child support arrears. If not, you may have to file again and would only be entitled to child support from the date of filing onward.
