I assume you are referring to a pendente lite (PL) hearing. This a hearing to establish temporary child custody, access, child support, and/alimony pending the final outcome of the case. The resulting PL order will often become the final order especially regarding custody and access in the absence of changes between the PL hearing and the final merits hearing, so it important be fully prepared for the PL hearing.
